Fair Winds and Following Seas is a phrase deeply rooted in naval tradition, offering a heartfelt wish for smooth sailing, steady winds, and safe passage. It's both a farewell and a hope, whether for a new journey or a final voyage. This design is made up of nautical flags that spell out this message.
I created this design in honor of my dad who passed away in 2021 from cancer. My dad, a proud Navy Officer, JAG, fisherman, father to 6 and Poppy to 11, passed down his love of the water to his kids. We grew up on the Chesapeake Bay riding around on his boat, then on to the James River, kayaking though its tributaries.
More than just a saying, Fair Winds and Following Seas is a tribute to all those who set sail, whether in service or in spirit.
