My stretched screens have taken a new direction since I no longer use my table tops for screen printing my textiles. I call this method "improv screen printing". I burn large scale shapes and repeat patterns with the sole intention of layering them to create an abstract and intensely colorful piece. A piece like this could have as many as 40 layers of prints.
The canvas is 100% recycled and I repurpose ink that would otherwise be rinsed down the drain or disposed of. In some case, for my smaller pieces, I wrap the canvas around retired, reclaimed wooden screens. No two pieces are alike and these one-of-a-kind monoprints hold a special place in my heart.
